Most venues that ban glass do not want plastic cups — they want wine glasses that are not made of glass. That distinction is worth a lot of money to festivals, stadiums, hotels with terraces, and anyone serving wine near a swimming pool.

Why it does not read as plastic

Three things: a real stem, proper wall thickness, and optical clarity. Tritan copolyester is genuinely transparent rather than slightly milky, so wine looks like wine in it. Held by the stem, at a table, it behaves like stemware — which is the entire specification for a reception.

Where a glass ban applies

Festivals and outdoor events — broken glass on grass is a site-safety issue and usually a licence condition.
Stadiums and arenas — glass is prohibited almost universally.
Pools, spas and hotel terraces — barefoot areas where glass is not an option.

Common questions

How is this different from a plastic party cup?

Everything except the material. It has a real stem, wall thickness and weight, and Tritan is optically clear rather than hazy — at a table it reads as glassware. A party cup reads as a party cup, which is fine at a festival bar and wrong at a wine tasting or a gala.

Tritan or polycarbonate?

Tritan is the premium option: clearer, more scratch-resistant, and it stays transparent through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. Polycarbonate is cheaper and slightly softer, so it clouds sooner with heavy commercial washing. For a venue washing them nightly, Tritan pays for itself; for a one-weekend event, polycarbonate is enough.

Can it go in a commercial dishwasher?

Yes, both materials are dishwasher safe. Keep printed glasses to the normal programme rather than the most aggressive one — the glass will outlive the print, so the print is what sets the wash policy.

Where does the logo go?

Screen printed or pad printed on the bowl, or laser engraved on the bowl or the base for a frosted, permanent mark. Engraving survives washing indefinitely and looks considerably more expensive, which suits venues that keep the glasses rather than giving them away.
