A vacuum bottle is one of the few promotional items people keep using after the event that gave it to them. That is the whole argument for it: cost per impression on a bottle that lives on someone’s desk for three years is far better than on anything printed on paper, even though the unit price looks high next to a pen.

The engineering behind it is simple. Two stainless steel walls, with the air between them pumped out. Heat needs matter to travel through, so a vacuum stops nearly all of it — which is why a vacuum bottle holds temperature for hours while a double-walled plastic tumbler holds it for perhaps forty minutes.

Sizes and what they are for

Capacity Typical use
320-350 ml Desk and handbag size. One large coffee. The lightest option, and the one people actually carry every day.
500 ml The default. Fits car cup holders and most backpack side pockets, and covers a working day of water.
550-600 ml A little more range without a real weight penalty. Common in recycled stainless steel lines.
750 ml Sport, site work and travel. Heavy when full, so specify it deliberately rather than by default.

Lids change how the bottle is used

Materials

Standard stainless steel is the baseline. Recycled stainless steel — typically around 90% recycled content — costs a few cents more and gives a defensible sustainability claim, which matters when the bottle is the gift at an environmental or ESG-themed event. Double-wall borosilicate glass is a different proposition again: it insulates less than steel but shows the drink, so it suits offices and hospitality rather than sport.

Decoration

Laser engraving is the durable option and the one that looks most expensive: the coating is burned away to expose bare steel, so the mark cannot wear off. Pad and screen print carry brand colours but sit on the surface. A full-colour wrap covers the whole body and is best on a matte powder-coated bottle. Engraving on a coloured bottle produces a silver mark, so the coating colour effectively becomes the second colour of the design.

Common questions

How long does a vacuum bottle actually keep a drink hot?

Around 8 to 12 hours hot and up to 24 hours cold for a 500 ml bottle filled to the top. Two things halve those numbers in practice: opening the bottle, and filling it only part-way, because the air in the bottle carries heat away much faster than the vacuum does.

What is the difference between vacuum insulated and double wall?

Every vacuum bottle is double walled, but not every double-walled bottle is vacuum insulated. A double-walled plastic tumbler has air between the walls, which slows heat transfer a little. A vacuum bottle has the air pumped out, which is why it holds temperature for hours rather than minutes.

Laser engraving or print?

Laser engraving removes the coloured coating and exposes the steel underneath, so it is permanent, dishwasher-proof and monochrome. Pad or screen print gives you brand colours but sits on the surface and will eventually wear at the points where the bottle is gripped. For a bottle intended as a long-term gift, engraving is usually the better choice.

Which size should we choose?

500 ml is the default and the size most people carry daily. 350 ml suits a desk or a handbag, 750 ml suits sport, site work and long journeys. Bigger is not automatically better: a 750 ml bottle is noticeably heavier and does not fit every car cup holder.

Are they dishwasher safe?

Most are hand-wash only. A dishwasher cycle can damage the seal between the walls, and once the vacuum is compromised the bottle stops insulating. Lids are usually dishwasher safe even when the body is not; we confirm this per model when quoting.

What is the minimum order?

Usually 50 pieces. These are stock items held in EU warehouses, so the constraint is the print setup rather than production, and delivery is normally two to three weeks from approved artwork.
