Laces are the cheapest way to put a brand on something that gets worn hundreds of times. They sit at eye level for nobody and at ankle level for everyone, which makes them work for running events, sneaker launches and university merchandise — and makes them useless for anything that has to be noticed across a room.

Flat or round

Flat laces are the sneaker and skate standard and the only sensible choice when text has to be legible. At 8 mm to 15 mm wide they give you a continuous printable strip, so a name or logo can repeat along the lace and still be readable from a step or two away. Round laces suit running shoes, boots and hoodie cords, but the surface curves away from the eye, so branding on them is usually woven in or applied to the aglets instead. Pick round when the product has to look like an upgrade rather than an advert.

Which length, and the aglets

Standard lengths are 90 cm, 120 cm and 140 cm, with custom lengths available. Lace length is decided by the shoe, not by the wearer, so count eyelet pairs on the specific shoe you are buying for: fewer pairs and a low-cut trainer take the shortest, boots and high-tops take the longest. If the laces go into a mixed race pack where you cannot know the shoes, 120 cm is the least risky single length. Printing your brand name or web address onto the plastic or metal aglets is the detail that lifts the pair from giveaway to product, and it costs far less than the perceived value it adds.

Print and packaging

Heat transfer, also called sublimation, is for full-colour and photographic artwork. Silk screen is for flat spot colours and hard edges, and it is the tougher choice for a repeated wordmark. Then decide how the pair is presented: a clear polybag is the plain, low-cost option for bulk race packs, while a custom card header turns the same laces into something that can sit on a retail peg or be handed over as a gift. For goodie bags and step-count challenges the bag is enough; for anything sold or given one-to-one, pay for the header.

Common questions

Flat or round laces?

Flat, at 8–15 mm wide, gives a canvas where text and a logo read from a distance — the standard for sneakers and skate shoes. Round suits running shoes, boots and hoodies, where branding usually goes on the aglets or is woven in.

Can you print the tips?

Your brand name or website can be printed directly onto the plastic or metal aglets. It is a small detail that noticeably raises the perceived value.

What lengths are standard?

90, 120 and 140 cm, with custom lengths available. Material is durable polyester, printed by heat transfer sublimation or silk screen, and pairs are packed in a clear polybag or on a custom card header.
