WOW Events is an event agency, which means their wristband is never the point — it is one line in a production budget that also has to pay for sound, light and a stage. What makes their case worth writing down is the direction the orders moved over six years.
2019: five thousand printed bands
The first order was 5000 full-colour printed fabric wristbands. That is the volume end of the business: a band that identifies a ticket holder, costs a few cents, and is cut off at the end of the night. Nothing wrong with it — for gate control it is still the correct product, and it is what most events should buy.
2025: six hundred LED bands
Six years later the order was 600 radio-controlled LED wristbands — roughly one eighth of the quantity at three times the total value. The band had stopped being an access token and become part of the show.
This is the shift worth understanding if you run events. A printed band is a cost. An LED band is production equipment: it turns the audience into a lighting element that the operator controls from the desk, in time with the music. The photographs that come out of a room where two hundred people light up simultaneously are the marketing budget for next year’s edition.
2026: the zone-changeable model
The most recent order was a smaller run of a different band: a zone-changeable model in one print colour. The difference matters.
- Standard radio LED band: every band in the room does the same thing at the same time. The operator sends one signal, the whole crowd responds. Simple, dramatic, and the right choice for a single-stage show.
- Zone-changeable band: each band can be assigned to a zone, and zones are addressed separately. VIP area in one colour, floor in another, a wave that crosses the room rather than a single flash. The operator can also re-assign a band on site, which matters when the plan changes on the day — and it always does.
Zone control costs more per band and needs a plan before the doors open. For a one-room party it is over-specified. For a venue with tiers, a stage-and-floor split, or a sponsor area that should be visibly distinct, it is what makes the effect legible instead of merely bright.
Notas práticas
- Batteries versus rechargeable: battery bands are consumables — every show needs new cells or new bands. Rechargeable bands are equipment and pay back from the second event onward. A touring agency should be buying rechargeable.
- Prazo de entrega: LED bands are made to order with your logo and your channel configuration. Plan five to six weeks, not one.
- Test the room. Radio range depends on the venue. A steel-framed hall is not a marquee. Ask for a transmitter test before committing to a large room.
- Print on an LED band is small. The strap carries a one- or two-colour logo, not artwork. If the brand needs to be read, it goes on the lanyard or the printed band the LED band sits next to.
