This is the workhorse of the festival wristband. A woven polyester band, printed by dye sublimation so the artwork goes into the fibre rather than onto it, closed with a lock that cannot be reopened. It survives a week of rain, showers and swimming, and it costs less than the drink the wearer bought with it.
Two decisions define the order: what the fabric is, and how it closes.
Sublimation is digital and dyes the fibre itself. That has three consequences worth planning around: colour is free, so a photograph costs the same as a one-colour logo; the print cannot crack or peel, because there is no ink layer sitting on the surface; and every band can be different, so sequential numbers, names or per-day colour coding add no setup cost.
Where sublimation loses is texture and prestige. If the band should feel expensive rather than look colourful, tecido is the correct answer.
| Tecido | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Standard polyester | The default. Soft, durable, prints perfectly. |
| Fluorescent UV reactive | Bright in daylight, glows under blacklight. For nightclubs and evening festivals where staff check bands in the dark. Not reflective — it does nothing under a headlight. |
| Satin ribbon | Smooth and light, for a band that ties on rather than locks. |
| Elastic | Stretches over the hand. No lock, no sizing, fastest distribution. |
| Closure | Reopens? | Adequado para |
|---|---|---|
| One-way plastic lock | No, has to be cut | Access control. The standard, and the reason a band cannot be passed to somebody outside the gate. |
| Metal crimp | Não | The same security with a better-looking finish. Multi-day festivals and VIP tiers. |
| Slider | Sim | Staff and crew, who put the band on and take it off daily. |
| Tie-on ribbon | Yes, by hand | Awareness campaigns and charity drives. One size fits all; secures nothing. |
| Elastic, no lock | Slides on and off | Merchandise, promotions and multi-day comfort. Fastest to hand out. |
The rule is simple: if money changed hands at the gate, use a lock that has to be cut. Everything else is a comfort or cost decision.
Printed if the artwork has more than four colours, a gradient, a photograph or fine detail: sublimation reproduces all of it and colours cost nothing extra. Woven if the band must survive a week of showers and still look sharp, or if the brand should read as premium — a woven logo is part of the fabric and cannot fade. Printed is cheaper; woven lasts better and feels more expensive.
A one-way plastic lock is the standard for access control: it cannot be reopened without cutting, so a band cannot be passed to somebody outside. A metal crimp does the same job and looks better. A slider is reusable, so it suits staff rather than guests. Tie-on and elastic have no lock at all and are for promotions and awareness campaigns rather than security.
When nothing is being controlled. A soft satin ribbon tied by the wearer is one-size-fits-all, costs little, and reads as a cause or a campaign rather than as an entry pass. Charity drives and awareness weeks use them for exactly that reason. They are trivial to remove, which is the point and also why they are wrong for a paying event.
Sizing and speed. An elastic band slides over the hand with no lock to fit, no wrist to measure and nothing to fasten, so distribution at the door is much faster. It is also the most comfortable option for multi-day wear. It cannot be secured, so use it for merchandise and promotions, not for access.
Low light. Fluorescent polyester is bright in daylight and glows under UV or blacklight, so staff can check bands in a dark club or a night festival without a torch. It is a fabric colour, not a coating, so it does not wear off. Note that it is not reflective — it does nothing under a car headlight.
Yes. Sublimation is digital, so sequential numbering, individual names or per-day colour coding cost no more in setup than a single design. For sequential numbering as the main purpose, see numbered fabric wristbands.
A well-made fabric band survives a week of festival wear, including showers and swimming. Printed colours stay bright because sublimation dyes the fibre rather than coating it; what usually fails first is the lock, which is why the closure is worth specifying deliberately.
From 100 pieces, about two weeks from approved artwork. There is no per-colour charge, so a photographic design costs the same as a one-colour logo — which is the main reason to choose printed over woven.
