A wooden medal is chosen for one of two reasons: it weighs almost nothing, or it says something a plated metal disc cannot. Trail races, forest events, sustainability-led conferences and craft brands all sit in that space, where a heavy gold-toned medal would look borrowed from a different kind of event.
| Metoda | Jak to wygląda | Najlepszy dla |
|---|---|---|
| Grawerowanie laserowe | The design burned into the surface, grain showing through, tactile | The most natural result, and the cheapest. Logos, text, line art. |
| Sitodruk | Solid colour sitting on the wood | A bold single-colour logo that has to read from a distance. |
| Full colour UV print | Photographic artwork printed directly on the wood | Complex artwork, sponsor blocks, gradients. |
All three can be combined with engraved names or numbers on the back, unique to each piece.
Wood grain varies. Two medals from the same batch will differ slightly in colour and pattern, which reads as character rather than as a defect — but it does mean wood is the wrong choice when a design has to reproduce identically across two thousand pieces. It is also lighter than metal by a large margin, which is the practical reason runners keep wearing it after the finish line rather than putting it in a bag.
An 80 cm ribbon is included. A recycled taśma rPET is the natural pairing here and usually the right one: a wooden medal on a virgin polyester ribbon undercuts its own argument.
Two reasons, and only one of them is environmental. Wood weighs a fraction of metal, which matters when a runner wears the medal for the rest of the day. And it looks like it belongs at a trail race, a forest event or a sustainability-led conference in a way a plated metal disc does not. If the award needs to feel heavy and formal, use metal.
Laser engraving burns the design into the wood, showing the grain through it — the most natural-looking option and the one that ages best. Screen print puts a solid colour on top, which is right for a bold single-colour logo. Full-colour UV print reproduces complex artwork and gradients directly on the wood. Engraving costs least and looks most like wood; UV costs most and looks least like wood.
No, and that is the point. Wood grain varies from piece to piece, so colour and pattern differ slightly across a batch. If absolute consistency is required, a metal medal with strona głównaing is the correct specification instead.
Yes. Names and numbers are engraved on the back and can be unique on every piece. Supply them as a list with the artwork.
They survive an event and years on a wall. They are not weatherproof: prolonged damp will raise the grain and fade a printed design faster than it fades on metal. For a medal that will hang outside permanently, metal is the right material.
Typically 100 pieces, with roughly three to four weeks from approved artwork. Each custom shape needs its own cutting programme, which is why very small runs are usually better served by a stock medal.
