A badge on a neck cord spends most of the day facing the wrong way. A badge reel keeps it at the hip, out of the way, and pulls it to the reader when it is needed — which is why it is the standard in warehouses, hospitals, workshops and any building where people carry things.
A spring-loaded spool holds 75 cm of cord. The metal carabiner clips onto a belt loop, a trouser waistband or a bag strap. Pull the card to the reader, let go, and the cord winds itself back. There is nothing to fasten and nothing to remember.
The reel body carries a 20 × 20 mm print area, pad printed in up to four colours. It is small, but it is handled dozens of times a day by the wearer and seen at close range by everyone they serve — a better ratio of impressions to surface area than most promotional items achieve.
