A cardboard cutout is a person-sized piece of print that stands up on its own. Cut to the contour of whatever is on it — a presenter, a product, a mascot, a slogan — and up to 210 cm tall, it takes floor space in a shop or a hall and does what a poster on a wall cannot: it breaks the walking line, and people photograph it.

Where it stands — and where it will not

Indoors, on hard, flat floor. The integrated back support needs a surface it can brace against, so a cutout that stands perfectly in a showroom will lean and topple on deep carpet, gravel or grass. The gloss lamination protects the surface against wear and ambient moisture, but this is 5-layer corrugated cardboard, not an outdoor sign — rain will finish it and any real wind will move it. Outdoors, or in a doorway with a draught, weight the base or place it against a wall or in a corner. Position it where traffic already turns: the end of an aisle, the top of an escalator, the mouth of a stand. A cutout in an open hall floor is ignored.

Designing artwork that survives the cut

With bespoke contour cutting the silhouette is part of the design, and that is where cutouts go wrong. Thin protruding shapes — outstretched fingers, a raised bat, high heels, letters on stalks — become the parts that bend, tear and get knocked off in transit or on day one. Keep protrusions thick, keep the base wide, and let the outline simplify. Print is full-colour UV, so brand colours hold and the surface does not fade under hall lighting, but a 1:1 human figure needs artwork at that scale: a photograph that looks sharp on screen can arrive soft at 210 cm. Supply the highest resolution original you have, not a web version.

What the leaflet pocket changes

The optional integrated brochure pocket turns the display from a picture into an unmanned stand. It works — but it needs a person to refill it, so decide who does that before the show and put the pocket at reachable height for an adult, not at knee level where the artwork happened to leave room. If nobody is refilling it, leave it off; an empty pocket reads as a stand that has run out.

Common questions

Does the cutout need a separate stand?

No. An integrated back support is part of the build, so it stands freely without any mounting hardware.

How tall can it be?

Up to 210 cm, contour-cut to your artwork from a single continuous piece of 5-layer corrugated board, so there is no join to bend at.

Will it survive a busy retail floor?

Gloss lamination over the UV print protects against surface wear, tearing and moisture, and the heavy-duty 5-layer board is specified for freestanding stability in high-traffic areas.
