Most keycords are bought to hold a badge. These are bought to be noticed. Everything on this page uses a production step that ordinary screen printing does not have — a hot stamp, a foaming ink, an applied silicone layer, a fur backing — and every one of them exists because someone needed a lanyard that did not look like the ones at the last event.

They are gathered here because the choice between them is a finish decision made once, not a set of separate products. The base strap is usually the same 90 cm polyester underneath.

Flat, raised or stamped

The eight finishes fall into three families, and knowing which family you are in decides most of the cost.

Choosing by the room

Dark venue, cameras present — holographic on black satin, or glitter.

Which finish photographs best?

Holographic laser foil, by a distance. It reads as metallic silver in low light and breaks into rainbow gradients under a camera flash, which is why it is the usual choice for events that expect a lot of social media. Print it on a black or dark navy satin strap: the smooth dark surface is what makes the effect pop.

What is the difference between foil and holographic?

Both are hot-stamped rather than printed, so both give a crisp mirror finish that ink cannot. Foil is a single metallic colour, usually gold or silver, and reads as formal. Holographic foil is iridescent and shifts colour with the light, which reads as playful. Same process, opposite tone.

What is the difference between puff print and high-density print?

Both raise the logo off the fabric with a foaming or thickened ink. Puff print gives a soft, rounded relief — good for bold block logos and a tactile, casual feel. High-density print gives a much sharper, taller, rubber-like edge, which is what makes it the only method here that can carry readable Braille alongside printed text.

Do glow-in-the-dark keycords need a battery?

No. The ink contains phosphors that absorb light during the day or under venue lighting and release it slowly as a soft green glow in darkness. That also means it is not the same thing as a fluorescent lanyard, which is simply a bright colour that reacts to UV but produces no light of its own.

How do you brand a faux fur lanyard?

Not with ink — long fibres swallow print. The logo goes on a woven label or a PVC or rubber patch sewn onto the strap, the way a garment is branded. Two versions exist: fully tubular fur, which is the fashion option, and a normal strap with fur sewn to the back, which is the warm one for winter sports and ski passes.

Which of these is closest to a normal lanyard in price?

A metallic-look woven strap with standard printing is the cheapest way to get an upmarket appearance, from about EUR 0,69. Hot foil stamping, glitter overlay and applied silicone all cost noticeably more because they are extra production steps rather than a different ink.
