Most event wristbands are designed to be thrown away on the last night. A few are designed to be kept, and everything about them changes as a result — the material, the closure, the way the logo is applied, and the price per piece.
The bands we produced for Mindvalley are the second kind: leather straps in four colourways with a gold foil logo.
Why leather
A multi-day personal-growth event is worn on the wrist for the whole week and then, if it is done right, for months afterwards. Fabric goes grey. Silicone reads as a gym band. Leather ages instead of degrading, and it is the only common wristband material that looks better after a week than it did on day one.
It also costs more per piece than everything else in the catalogue, which is why it belongs to events where the band is part of the ticket price rather than a giveaway.
Why gold foil and not print
Screen printing on leather sits on top of the grain and cracks along the fold line — exactly where a wristband bends. Hot foil stamping presses the mark into the surface: the leather is debossed and the metallic layer bonds inside the impression. The logo becomes part of the texture, and the fold that would destroy a print is the fold the foil sits comfortably in.
The other reason is visual. Gold on black leather is a contrast that photographs well in low light, which is where event photos are usually taken.
Why four colourways
Four colours across the same design let an event separate groups without printing four different artworks: a colour per track, per day, or per access level. Staff read colour at a distance faster than they read text, and the guest sees one consistent brand mark across all four.
Practical notes for a similar run
- Stängning: leather bands take a snap stud or a slider. A stud is quicker to fit at a gate; a slider is harder to remove and re-use.
- Artwork: foil needs a solid single-colour mark. Gradients, thin hairlines and drop shadows do not survive the die — send the logo as vector with strokes converted to outlines.
- Storleksordning: leather does not stretch. Either produce two lengths or use an adjustable closure.
