• Diameter. 8.6 cm is sized for a wrist, not a finger. Over a uniform sleeve it sits snug; on a bare wrist it will push up the forearm, which is what you want for hands-free use. If it is for staff in jackets, try one on the actual sleeve before ordering the run.
• The metal ring. It carries several keys and access cards, and it is the part that carries the weight — the ring and its join to the band, rather than the silicone itself, is what determines whether the product survives a year in a pocket.
• Colour. Available in a wide selection. In an organisation this is the genuinely useful specification: one colour per department, per building or per vehicle turns a keyholder into a key-control system for no extra cost.

Two ways to buy it

As promotion, order it in your brand colour, hand it out where people already carry keys they care about, and accept that its value is the wrist it sits on rather than the print area, which is modest. As equipment, order several colours and treat it as consumable: cheap to replace, obvious when it has been left on a desk, and durable enough that it will not need replacing often. Most buyers who start with the first case end up reordering for the second.
