The material is soft and light enough that guests forget they are wearing it, which is what keeps leis on necks after the first hour instead of on the floor. Count one per expected guest plus a clear margin for staff, latecomers and losses — leis go missing at a rate no other giveaway matches. For a multi-day festival, count days as well as guests: people arriving on day two expect a fresh one, and yesterday’s is already crushed in a tent. Split the batch across entrances only if you need to tell groups apart, such as VIP against general admission; otherwise one mixed batch is faster to hand out at a busy gate, which is the only speed that matters when a queue is building.
