A lei is a costume the crowd puts on itself. Hand one to every guest at the door and a room of strangers in ordinary clothes reads as a themed event within a minute \u2014 that is the whole job, and the reason these are bought by the thousand rather than the dozen.<\/p>\n

Count one per expected guest plus a clear margin for staff, latecomers and losses \u2014 leis go missing at a rate no other giveaway matches. For a multi-day festival, count days as well as guests: people arriving on day two expect a fresh one, and yesterday’s is already crushed in a tent. Split the batch across entrances only if you need to tell groups apart, such as VIP against general admission; otherwise one mixed batch is faster to hand out at a busy gate, which is the only speed that matters when a queue is building.<\/p>\n
